This isn't new information but maybe worth repeating (for those still wanting to see Bob Dylan live with his current mediocre band and his Modern Timesizing of a largely unsurprising setlist):
October:
Thu 23 Victoria BC
Fri 24 Vancouver BC
Sat 25 Kamloops BC
Mon 27 Calgary AB
Wed 29 Edmonton AB
Thu 30 Lethbridge AB
November 2008:
Sat 1 Regina SK
Sun 2 Winnipeg MB
Tue 4 Minneapolis MN
Wed 5 La Crosse WI
Thu 6 Milwaukee WI
Sat 8 Kalamazoo MI
Sun 9 Sault Ste. Marie ON
Tue 11 London ON
Wed 12 Oshawa ON
Thu 13 Sudbury ON
Sat 15 Kingston ON
Sun 16 Ottawa ON
Tue 18 Montreal QC
More dates are expected to be added; those above are all very northern. Best bet by far is surely November 6 in Milwaukee: the Riverside Theater is a venue of less than 3000, and so likely to coax a little more effort than usual from the performers.
It's Oshawa, ON, not Oshava, ON.
ReplyDelete-A Canadian, who saw him in Hamilton at an arena venue in August. Everybody on the floor (I was in the second row) was on their feet the entire time. Modern Timing the set list, maybe, but a good time was had by me and those around me.
this is unrelated to the post but Irecently saw a 1950's western called "face of a fugitive" which has a town in it called "tangle blue" Is this the source of the song title? then again this might already be in your encyclopedia
ReplyDeletetom
ReplyDeleteI stand corrected on your first point. (I've also added in Nov 8, Kalamazoo MI.) Im glad you had a good time but any performer can get people bopping in the mosh pit. Bob Dylan's performances used to offer something on a whole other level.
ReplyDeleteHi Michael,
ReplyDeleteIt's another unrelated comment but I thought you'd be interested to know that the Odeon cinema on London Road in Liverpool has just closed down. Very sad. The Stones played two shows there on the same day in October 1963, supporting the Everly Brothers, Little Richard and Bo Diddley,I think. Not a bad line up! And of course there was the Bob gig that you were at. The end of an era indeed.
Dear Andy
ReplyDeleteThank you for this news. I must say it makes me wonder why in all the years in between, it never once occurred to me on revisits to Liverpool to go back inside the place.
I can't personally translate Carlos Alvarez' message but the gist of it can be gathered by one of the auto-translation sites online, which gives it as this:
ReplyDeleteMr Gray has become one of those critics who are more concerned Dylan to demonstrate "that it is not the stick" to enjoy what you see and / or heard. Following in the footsteps of the old Dylan himself, his later writings are a demonstration of "critical protest." Too bad, because I enjoyed much of his difruto and The Bob Dylan Encyclopedia.
Only the gist, obviously. But it's always nice when people enjoy my difruto.
