Wow...what clarity ! I have two versions including the Japanese version and they are not as clear as this. I have always loved both the album and TV recording....all these performances for me are GREAT DYLAN with the crowning glory of Idiot Wind.
I still get a shiver listening to these performances....auguably his greatest live singing.
Oh yes! I don't think I've seen any footage of Bob more often than the Hard Rain TV Special. It also was the first recent (then recent, of course) footage of Bob, shortly after I really got into his art/music. It was shown on Austrian Television as early as fall 1976 - and I just loved everything about it. The way he sang, the way he looked, the way he moved, the loseness, the raggedness, the way he, uh, forced his hand in his pocket (sorry!) to find his plectrum, the way his face moved out of the picture and back, the way his eyes seemed to reflect and strenghten the meaning AND the sound of every word he sang ... after watching this I was lost and I still am.
