Following our Winterludes, Summer Days and Slowly Into Autumn Weekends, I'm pleased to announce a range of New Winterlude Weekends for this coming November.Arrive on a Friday, stay till the Sunday and enjoy a winterlude of great food and Bob Dylan Discussion here at our house in southwest France, 40-odd miles from the Pyrenees and the Spanish border. The house, an 1870s maison bourgeois, lies on the edge of a small village in deep countryside but within easy access of airports and train stations.
These weekend breaks are limited to a maximum of six guests each time. Meals, with good local wines, are provided by Sarah and taken communally. We offer two en suite double rooms and one en suite twin room.

ReplyDeleteI really want to visit your exquisite home (and challenge you to table tennis!) and experience a weekend and pick up on some of the scattered thoughts we shared at the symposium
in Minneapolis, but it might have to be on one of those Summer Days(hopefully during a Bob tour). You're
invited to my modest funky 1920's bungalow in the heart of Madison, Wisconsin for an "Early Spring" event. We can talk about Bob Dylan and his early days in Madison. You can do your Madison/Hibbing gigs. I'll drive my Subaru Outback and you can pick through my vast live collection of bootlegs for
the road(we can take "61"). We'll have a selection of
fine local micro brews and nepalese carry out and
pizza. You get basement couch space with private
bathroom. Perhaps we could do a swap? Well, how 'bout a reduced price?
The best part of the Bob Dylan symposium in Minneapolis(2007) for me
was meeting Michael Gray and sharing the bus trip
to Hibbing. We didn't talk much on the trip, but the next day on campus we talked briefly about vinyl
and stereos. The last day of the symposium Michael
closed the show with what was clearly the best presentation of the event(with some tough competition from some true heavy weights like Christopher Ricks). Michael and I were literally
the last men standing inside the museum at the
end of the symposium. He signed my Encyclopedia and we took a couple of photos. He is a very genuine and very likable and obviously very knowledgeable. He is definitely a gentleman worth
meeting and I look forward to our next one...

Early spring in Madison sounds a delight, and so does the Nepalese carryout (as they also say in Scotland, though the English say takeaway instead). Yes, if I can fix up some gigs, let's do it, and let's do a deal... I too enjoyed our time in Minneapolis, and as you may know, have often used one of your photos on my blog profile.
