Just heard you on the BBC talking about Bob and the King James bible. Very interesting stuff... I like the idea of Dylan not being afraid to sound like a 'stern prophet'. For reference, you come in at about 32 minutes:

Thanks for the info, Andy. I've started listening to the whole programme, but haven't had time to reach the Dylan section yet. When I did the interview for it, which was a couple of months ago, I didn't know the interviewer was a vicar, but I did think he sounded shrewd and interested in the subject (by no means always the case, of course.
ReplyDeleteFor anyone else interested, this BBC Radio 3 programme is only up there to be listened to for another 4 days now.
was delighted to hear you on irish radio the week of bobs birthday 15 days and counting to cork twice in a year is a rare treat for me bringing my 15 yr old with me took my daughter to thomond park on the 4th of july and she was to be treated to day of independence bobby style up front and got a smile when bobby caught her eye
ReplyDeletethanks Michael
ReplyDeleteI cant beleive I'd never linked "
in a In a little hilltop village, they gambled for my clothes
I bargained for salvation an’ they gave me a lethal dose"
with the bible, I suspect because I was fixed on the notion of a lethal dose.
That sort of insight makes, what is a favourite song, all the richer
Hi michael,
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for the radio programme on the music of the King James Bible. The few minutes on Dylan there were worth all the many hours of error ridden, presented by clueless hosts, 70th birthday programmes. You'd think research would be easier these days for journalists and media people but as the "China controversy" showed, even five minutes is too much to ask for research these days.
Lovely to hear a programme with people who know what they are talking about and have the ability to express themselves properly after all those dumbed down shows.
