ANOTHER WHITE HOUSE UPDATE

Apparently Joan Baez is now among the performers at the White House celebration of Civil Rights songs the day after tomorrow (Feb 10). There's a slightly salacious report here - though despite its best efforts, I can't see that there's any grounds for the suggestion that Joan and Bob might be going to perform together. On the other hand, I suppose it's possible. How would that look and sound?

Well, we know from his book that Bob doesn't do "nostalgia", but we glean from his radio show and magpie music that he probably does!

Will Bob and Joanie sing together? And if so, would it be anything other than nostalgia? And would that be so bad, anyway?

So long as they don't self-consciously ape around on stage, giggling and nodding knowingly at ancient remembrances, I think it could be interesting, and quite appropriate to the occasion, too, but I'm sure he'll probably avoid it.

Unfortunately...

"Now you're tellin' me you're not nostalgic / Then gimme another word for it: / You who're so good with words / And at keeping things vague": from Joan Baez's great song about Bob, 'Diamonds and Rust'.
