THE LOST NOTEBOOKS OF HANK WILLIAMS

Bob Dylan's project The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams sees release as an album on October 4th. The most detailed and interesting account I've found about all this comes from the New York Times here.

Did you know there's a Facebook group called Stop the Desecration of Hank Williams Unfinished Songs?!

I didn't. There is a high chance that the group was started by the same disgruntled group who are furious that Hank Williams III (known as Hank3) wasn't asked to be involved on the album. Hank3 has said he disagrees with the idea of people messing with the songs too. I'm rather ignorant on the issue, as I had never even heard of Hank3! Hank Williams Jr is apparently on the album though.

Hank 3 inherited his grand-father Hank's look and sound.
Here is Hank 3 singing about an encounter with Hank's haint:

You're right, he does sound a great deal like him! That always kind of freaks me out when that happens. I always struggled to listen to Julian Lennon too!

I wonder whether this has all come from a misunderstanding. Since the Bob-curated Jimmie Rodgers tribute album led off with a track sung by Bono, is it not conceivable that the Facebook group assumed there would be a Bono track on this one? That being so, it would clear up any confusion if they simply called their group, "Stop the Desecration of Hank Williams (and other Great Artists) by Bono.

Can't leave out the destruction of "Jesus Christ" by U2 on the Guthrie/Leadbelly tribute (with Dylan's great version of Pretty Boy Floyd.) It is just beyond me how anybody can stand to listen to Bono sing.

Actually I've always thought that 'Jesus Christ' was the his decent track.

Even when I think I will agree with you for a change, it's just not to be!
